Payments for co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay fees are all expected at the time of service.
In the event that payment is not received or if the payment method provided is declined, any following sessions will be subject to be rescheduled until payment is rendered.
Please note that:
- We do not offer a sliding scale at this time. Some therapists may choose to provide a sliding scale as their personal policy. Please be aware that there is no set agency policy for sliding scales and it is left up to the discretion of each therapist.
- While we are currently able to accept Medicare insurances, please be aware that this may change in the future due to legislation requiring in-person visits for new Medicare clients. As we are a telehealth only agency, once this legislative change goes into effect, we will not be able to take on any new clients who have Medicare. Once this legislation is in effect, it is also possible that those who are active clients may need to be referred out to local in-person therapists, as annual in-person meetings may be required depending on the client’s circumstances. This Medicare policy change does not impact clients with commercial or Medicaid insurance plans, it only applies to Medicare insurance.

In some cases, it may be preferable to choose self-pay over using your insurance plan.
Self-pay rates and insurance rates are not typically the same cost. This is because each therapist, or agency, is contracted at different rates by insurance companies, and sometimes these rates will differ from the self-pay rates that person or agency sets.
In the event that you have a high deductible and the self-pay rate is lower than your insurance policy’s contracted rate, then self-pay may be the preferred option.
Please note that if you choose self-pay, the cost paid toward each session will NOT go toward paying down your deductible.
We cannot supply superbills for reimbursement for insurance policies that the therapist is contracted with.
A client may also prefer self-pay due to privacy or safety reasons.
Many people are on shared policies with someone else. When this is the case, others on that policy may have access to the client’s insurance statements or to their explanation of benefits paperwork. This would give them access to know the client is in therapy and, depending on the insurance policy, who/where they are receiving the therapy services from.
If a client is not ready to share this information, or does not feel safe to, they may choose to opt for self-pay.
Self-pay rates are as follows:
- Intake Session (up to 55 minutes): $110
- Session Type 1 (up to 55 minutes): $90
- Session Type 2 (up to 45 minutes): $75
- Session Type 3 (up to 30 minutes): $60
- Group Therapy session (per 50 minutes): $50
- Family Therapy – client present (up to 55 minutes): $120
- Family Therapy – no client present (up to 55 minutes): $100
Clients can expect sessions to end no later than the times listed. There may be exceptions to this in times of crisis where it is not ethical to rush the session to an end; however, the general goal will be to end the session consistently at these time markers.
This allows time for clerical work and for your therapist to decompress before the next client.
Our goal is for all clients to receive the same level of care, and having space in between each session makes this ideal easier to achieve.
Please be aware the the above self-pay rates are the base rates set by the agency. Our therapists are in full control of their own individual policies and can choose to have rates that differ from the agency’s. These rates are subject to each therapist’s discretion and your therapist may have different rates that they have chosen to use instead of our base rates. Please clarify rates with your therapist if you have questions.
There is a fee for any “no shows” or for late cancellations.
Clients who do not show up to an appointment, or do not cancel an appointment with a minimum of 24 hours notice, may be subject to a $50 no show/late cancellation fee.
This is not covered by any insurance policy and will be charged automatically. Cancellation fees cannot be charged to HSA or FSA accounts.
Please be aware that since therapists have full control of their own policies, your therapist is also in charge of their cancellation fees. Most of our therapists choose to use the standard rate set, though they are allowed to amend their policy as they see fit. If you have questions about your therapist’s individual policies, please reach out to them directly.
Payments for co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay fees are all expected at the time of service. All clients will receive a Payment Authorization Form prior to their intake appointment. This must be filled out and submitted before the start of the appointment.
In the event that payment is not received or if the payment method provided is declined, any following sessions will be subject to be rescheduled until payment is rendered.
HSA and FSA accounts cannot be used for cancellation or missed appointment fees. If you are uploading an HSA or FSA card, please send an email to sam@sec-llc.org so that we can make a note in your file not to charge the card for these fees. In this case, a secondary card will need to be submitted to use for these fees. We have this policy in place to try to protect our clients’ best interest. Use of an HSA or FSA for an ineligible service does not impact our agency in anyway. The primary account holder of the HSA or FSA, however, may be subject to a penalty fee by the IRS if the card is charged for an ineligible expense.
