Freddie Wyatt

Hello there, and welcome! My chosen name is Freddie Wyatt (they/them), and I have been a therapist for over 12 years now, serving people across the lifespan and from all walks of life as a fully licensed master social worker. I earned my MSW from Michigan State University in 2013, and my career has taken me across the State of Michigan, from inner city public schools and nursing homes to non-profit community agencies and private practice settings. I have come to specialize in LGBTQIA+ healthcare with an emphasis on trauma, neurodivergence, and polyamory. 

My default approach is conversational and person-centered, but we can adjust the structure and focus of our sessions based on your preferences and goals. My primary interest is making sure we are a good fit and that our space together is safe and conducive to sharing and growth in the directions you want to go. I offer an integrated perspective that is trauma-informed, mindfulness-based, and couched within an existential-humanistic framework. My work is grounded in cultural humility and dedicated to upholding social justice values for people of all identities and backgrounds.

Personal Bio

The process of finding a new therapist can be daunting, which is why you deserve to know a little about me upfront. I am non-binary, queer, poly, and neurodivergent. I live with depression and OCD, and I have just as many years on the therapy couch as I do in the therapist’s chair. I acknowledge that I bring my whole self to the therapy room, and I am constantly learning from my clients how best to use my strengths and vulnerabilities to cultivate a professional yet genuine healing relationship. My hope is that my years of lived and professional experience will help foster the trust, safety, and connection needed to take meaningful steps together toward a brighter tomorrow. 

When I’m not in session or catching up on notes, I am listening to music, reading, meditating, or spending time with my spouse. We have 2 pets, a dog and a cat respectively named Sansa and Bran (from Game of Thrones). We live a happy life in Metro Detroit with our fur babies, and we are planning out next steps for our education.
