JJ Seeley

JJ is a Licensed Master's Social Worker.

JJ graduated with a Master's in Social Work in 2013 from WMU. They have 8+ years working in telehealth crisis intervention answering crisis calls. JJ has also worked in educational programs, with individuals who have TBIs, and mentoring in non-profit organizations.

JJ has additional experience working in roles that assist with improving access to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion resources.

Personal Bio

If there is one thing I have learned throughout the past decade I've worked in the mental health field, it is that the human spirit is incredibly resilient. I've also found that to be true in my own personal life as I am a peer in many of the communities I work with. One of the key factors in helping someone find their own resilience is having a welcoming space where they can process their thoughts, feelings, and concerns without judgment.

The focus of my therapy style is creating an environment where my clients feel safe coming as they are. Far too often, our society sends messages to us telling us that we are not enough. The same messages trying to shame us into changing who we are. Rather than leading to any meaningful change, the shaming we experience only leads to further harm. As someone who has had those messages sent to me whether because of my sexual orientation, gender identity, neurodivergency, or other aspects of who I am that do not align with the "norms of society", I am both empathetic and passionate about collaborating with my clients to break free from any stigmas they experience.

It is truly both an honor and privilege for me to be welcomed into the story of my clients' lives and be entrusted with coming alongside them in whatever journey they wish to take in life.
